Meine Reise von Buenos Aires ging mit dem Zug bis Bahia Blanca, dann per Anhalter weiter nach San Carlos de Bariloche und von dort mit dem Rad weiter über Villa Angostura nach Chile.

Buenos Aires ist wahrlich die Stadt der Kunst und des Tangos. Im Stadtviertel San Tolemo sieht man vor fast allen Bars Tangotänzer die anmutig die Beine schwingen. Im Stadtteil Boka sind die Häuser bunt angemalt und die Kunsthändler überfallen einen geradezu. Überall wimmelt es von Touristen.

Da der Argentinische Peso offiziell an den Dollar gekoppelt ist in der Praxis aber viel weniger wert ist, tauscht man das Geld entgegen der sonst üblichen Gepflogenheiten in der Straße in möglichst großen Scheinen. Es gibt dazu einen eigenen Wechselkurs den Dollar Blue. Um möglichst nah an diesen Kurs heran zu kommen schlendert man durch die Calle Florida und fragt die dort herumstehenden Geldwechsler nach ihren Kursen. Nach einigen Nachfragen entscheidet man sich für einen und geht mit ihm durch wimmelnde Gassen zu einem kleinen Laden oder Marktstand, wo man dann das Geld wechselt. Der Geldwechsler zückt ein dickes Bündel Scheine aus der Hosentasche und man selbst macht dasselbe. Wichtig ist noch das Geld zu zählen und auf Falschgeld zu kontrollieren.

Fußball wird ganz groß geschrieben. Im Viertel La Boca sah man noch Bildes des größten Spielers des Clubs Diego Maradonna. In allen Parks wird auch Fußball gespielt. Das Spiel Argentinien gegen Brasilien musste jedoch wegen eines Starkregens abgesagt werden.

Die Zugfahrt war mit einem uralten, rappeligen Zug auf ausgefahrenen Gleisen, jedoch verhältnismäßig Pünktlich. Es ging mit einer halben Stunde Verspätung los und mit 1,5 Stunden Verspätung kamen wir an. Der Preis war mit 200 Peso für mich und das Rad für eine Fahrt von 600 Km unschlagbar günstig.

Von Bahia Blanca versuchte ich mich dann als Anhalter und wurde meist rasch mitgenommen. Das Rad wurde immer irgendwo auf dem Fahrzeug befestigt. Mit den Truckern, die nahezu alle Güter durch das Land transportieren, konnte ich bis zu 500 Km mitfahren. So rauschte die endlos flache Pampa rasch an mir vorbei.

In San Carlos de Bariloche sah ich dann die ersten schneebedeckten Gipfel der Anden. Dazu gab es kristallklare Bergseen und grüne Wälder. Da schwang ich mich gerne wieder auf das Rad. Meinen ersten Andenpass passierte ich bei 1346 Hm üNN also noch verhältnismäßig flach.

Am letzten Sonntag gewann der wirtschaftsliberale Kandidat Murci die Präsidentschaftswahlen in Argentinien. Er versprach große Reformen und ein aufstrebendes Leben in Argentinien zusammen mit einem großen Sozialstaat. Mal sehen was aus diesen Versprächen wird. Der Wahlkampf endete zwei Tage vor den Wahlen. Die beiden Tage bis zur Wahl sollten zum Nachdenken dienen. Viel wurde auch mit Grafitti in den Straßen gearbeitet.

Nun geht es weiter auf der Careterra Austral in den Süden Chiles.

My trip from Buenos Aires went by train to Bahia Blanca, then by hitchhiking to San Carlos de Bariloche and from there by bike again through Villa Angostura to Chile.

Buenos Aires is truly the city of art and tango. In the district of San Tolemo there are almost at all bars tango dancers gracefully swinging their legs. In Boka district the houses are colorfully painted and art dealers tried to sell their things. Everywhere terhe were tourists.

Since the Argentine peso is officially pegged to the dollar but in practice is worth much less, everyone swap their money in the street in large bills. Theri is even an unofficial exchange rate the dollar blue. To get as close as possible to this course you walk through the Calle Florida and ask a bnch of moneychangers for their rates. Than you shoose one and go with him through teeming streets to a small shop or market stall where the moneychangers pulls out a big amount of bills out of his pocket and you do the same. The important thing is to count the money and check it for fake money.

Football is a big thing. In the district of La Boca you might still see pictures of Diego Maradonna, the biggest player of the club. In all parks and football is played. The match between Argentina and Brazil, however, had to be canceled due to a heavy rainfall.

The train ride was in a very old, noisy train in a rut railway but relatively on time. It started with half an hour delay and with just 1.5 hour delay arrived. The unbeatable price was 200 pesos for me and the bike for a ride of 600 Km.

From Bahia Blanca I tried to hitchhike and was mostly taken quickly. The bike was always attached anywhere on the vehicle. With the truckers who transport almost all goods across the country, I could manage a ride up to 500 km. Thus, the endless flat Pampa swept quickly past me.

In San Carlos de Bariloche I saw the first snow-capped peaks of the Andes. In addition there was crystal clear mountain lakes and green forest. So I enjoyed to ride the bike again. My first Andean pass had only 1346 Hm.

On the last Sunday of the liberal candidate Murci won the presidential election in Argentina. He promised major reforms and a thriving life in Argentina along with a large welfare state. Let's see what becomes truth of these. The election campaign ended two days before the elections. The two days until the election should serve to reflect. Much has also worked with graffiti in the streets.

Now I continue on the Careterra Austral to the south of Chile.
